VELscope Vx – Operation | Advantages | Safety

Each year, many are diagnosed with cancer of the mouth, all over the world. The survival rate of oral cancer is appalling—in many cases, mostly because they are not identified early enough. Early oral cancer detection can make all the changes when it comes to surviving the disease. Often we overlook problems in the mouth such as bleeding or sores, difficulty swallowing, or notice changes in taste, playing down the potential severity of signs and signs. We sometimes ignore the white and dark red patches in parts of your mouth. Also, the swellings or other changes in texture, lack of sensation, spots that don’t go away. This is the reason why a visit to the dentist is vital.

Modern research verifies that the risk factors for oral cancer are increasing, and the changing demographics present an unprecedented call to action for oral cancer awareness and regular screenings. VELscope Vx is the world’s #1 Adjunctive Examination Device, an oral cancer screening device called Velascope. It is used during routine dental visit examinations to detect pre-cancerous traces in the mouths of the patients. The device can recognize it right away and advise the best way forward.

What is a VELscope Vx?

The VELscope Vx is an enhanced oral assessment system. It centers on a handheld scope that is used by dentists to help see the oral tissue abnormalities, including cancer and pre-cancer growths. The VELscope Vx arrangement is an adjunctive device. It means it is used together with and as a supplement to the traditional intra and extraoral head and neck examination.

Unlike other adjunctive machines used for oral examinations, the VELscope Vx requires no dyes or lengthy examination processes. Today the dentist uses the VELscope Vx Enhanced Oral Assessment System that centers on a handheld scope to help visualize oral tissue abnormalities, including cancer and pre-cancer.

How Does VELscope Vx Operate?

The VELscope Vx Handpiece radiates a protected visible blue light into the oral cavity or the mouth, the light stimulates the oral tissue and causes to fluoresce. The oral cavity can be examined in real-time, enhancing the dentist’s ability to visualize irregular tissue that may or may not need further examination.

Abnormal fluorescence patterns help the clinician to identify unhealthy mucosal tissue that sometimes cannot be seen with the naked eye. Such models may arise from a variety of causes.

The VELscope Vx was designed to improve the visualization of oral mucosal abnormalities that may not be noticeable or visible to the dentist’s naked eye. VELscope Vx is also meant to be used by the surgeon to help determine the applicable margins for surgical removal.

Advantages of VELscope VX

  • Source of on-going revenue for dental practitioners
